The HABI Button is patent pending.

The technology behind the HABI Button is now patent pending: how it senses a press, how it gives feedback, and how it all works together in one module. Here is what went into it, and why it matters to anyone choosing a component for a machine that has to last.

The HABI Button from the front

It started with a problem every machine builder knows: an operator pressing a dead touch panel with a wet glove, or a mechanical button that has worn out and let water in. Neither technology could be trusted on its own. The question was whether two sensors, working together, could make a press that is always right.

From a sentence to firmware

"Evaluated together" sounds simple until it has to become firmware. Where does the threshold sit, so that a real press separates cleanly from a hose-down? How does it hold through vibration, temperature changes and thousands of presses? And how do you get all of it small enough and sealed enough to live in a panel for a decade?

Answering those questions took months of building, testing and rebuilding, and that work is what the HABI Button is built on.

Protecting what is new

A patent application means describing exactly what is new, precisely enough for an examiner to judge it against everything that came before. Our application covers the HABI Button as a whole, from the sensing to the feedback, and is now filed and under examination.

The question worth asking is not only whether the technology works. It is whether it is actually theirs.

Why it matters to you

When you design a component into a machine with a ten-year life, you are betting on the supplier as much as on the part. Whether the technology works is something you can test, and the Evaluation Kit is there for exactly that. Whether it belongs to the company you are buying from is the other half of the question.

For the HABI Button, it does.
